Die Doppelwand ist eine massive Wandkonstruktion, bestehend aus zwei Stahlbetonschalen, die durch einen Gitterträger miteinander verbunden sind.

Nach der Montage auf der Baustelle wird der Hohlraum der Doppelwandelemente mit Ortbeton vergossen, die Betonschalen dienen dabei als Schalung. In diesen Betonschalen ist die statisch erforderliche Bewehrung bereits werkseitig eingebaut. Nach dem Betonieren wirkt der erhärtete Gesamtquerschnitt monolithisch.
